BASIC FORUM GUIDELINES
This is a site for Role-playing, exploring, exhibiting creativity, and enjoying yourself amongst others who share similar interests. As such, let us try to maintain an open mind, and not ruin the experience for each other.
There are a few simple understandings we should be able to come to:
UNDERSTANDING ONE Lighten Up. What do i mean by this? Nothing on the internet is so serious that you should get bent out of shape about it. No one is coming to your house. No one is going to beat you up or get you shot through your modem. Nobody cares that much. This is only the internet. Don't take every comment and every person whose genuinely playing around and enjoying themselves so serious. It's not.
UNDERSTANDING TWO Enjoy Yourself! This is a place for you to relax and have fun. If you get absolutely destroyed in a battle, MAKE A NEW CHARACTER, MAKE 50, HAVE A BLAST. If someone does something you don't like, or something that's non-cannon, or something that makes you uncomfortable, handle it OOC through PM and actually deal with it. Don't be hesitant to contact a mod to help you resolve an issue, but try to have fun first.
UNDERSTANDING THREE Respect Everyone. Don't run around the boards spamming the word NOOB at everyone who asks a question. If someone wants to learn something, help them out. If you try to cause trouble, you will not be welcome here. Try to avoid conflict, work out your problems, and work through the appropriate channels. That said, staff members are just that, MEMBERS, who should be treated with the respect of someone who will try their best to faciliate the communities needs. They are not gods. They are not your parents. They cannot kill you or ban you or turn you into a strawberry muffin on a whim. Respect yourself, each other, and the boards.
The Big Five
1. No Flaming
Do not insult other members of the forum, a flame meant as a joke is still an insult and will be categorized and noted. If an insult was such an obvious joke that it's meant for everyone to get, this may be acceptable, but stay on the safe side and leave the insults aside. If flamed, let me or one of the staff know. Do not engage in a flaming match. DO NOT retaliate. There are three levels of flaming:
-Accidental-
Where the user did not intend anything insulting. This can be excused, within reason.
-Aggravated-
Where the user simply 'reacted' without thinking and made an insulting remark without properly assessing the situation, or where the user was 'flamed first' and attempts to retaliate. This is sadly inexcusable behavior.
-Intentional-
Where the user calmy and collectively intends to insult another member for no other reason than causing another person distress. You can be banned at the discretion of the mods for this behavior.
2.No Harrassment
This means no flooding, no spamming, no advertisement (unless posted in the appropriate forum) and no bothering people. If a member states that they do not wish to interact with you, LEAVE THEM ALONE. Do not flood the boards with information, text, pornographic images or links, or anything of that nature. Do not create drama or instigate situations further. Work on resolving problems, not making more. Do not treat others badly, or try to intentionally cause them to 'flame' you in anger.
3. No TrollingDo not deliberately seek to cause damage to the community. Neo-trolling is another variant of this where you try to cause damage without making it seem like actual trolling (i.e.: subtle and intelligent trolling). This can include; exploiting 'loop holes' in the rules, undermining staff, publicly attacking the forum or its management on sites affiliated with and unassociated with the boards, privately plotting to cause damage or problems on the board, breaking the rules intentionally, being banned and attempting to return through other means, Hacking or the discussion of hacking (Any form of speaking/communicating/posting that deals with hacking is an automatic permanent ban), or showing a general disrespect for the staff/mods.
If a mod closes a thread, or instructs you to do/not do something, than in the best interest of the forum, please listen to what they tell you. You may not understand it, you may not feel like it is fair, but all unhappiness should be adressed to ME in a PM, do not make a public protest thread detailing your personal hatred for them. Respect the fact that the mods were chosen for a reason, and allow them to do their jobs.
Keep all OOC complaints away from IC interactions...if you are having a problem OOC then contact a Staff Member about the dispute. Do not make any type of thread whose purpose is to discredit the site in any way. There is a forum for complaints, comments, and questions, Use It!
4. No Post Content Abuse
Readable posts only people! Everyone does not have broadband access, so no background music or imbedded media in threads. Anything with adult content media MUST contain a THREAD WARNING. Please reduce your image size to 450 pixels by 450 pixels for regular posts on the site, we prefer not to have the forum stretched out to accomodate one person. A signature cannot be larger than 450 x 200 pixels for the same reason.
5. Posting Limits
In Character, you are allowed to be in TWO threads at a time, an RP (role-playing) thread and a Training thread. Meaning you can train into a technique and role-play a mission at the same time, however, the mission cannot be an official HVRP Event, A Non-Practice Area Fight, or use any of the techniques learned in the training thread. You must exit a training thread FIRST to use the techniques learned in a battle. You CANNOT do a training thread in one country and an RP thread in another. DO NOT open two training threads at the same time. You must WAIT until your current training is grading before moving on to the next technique. Any violation of this rule will result in Staff Member action.
