Water Release (Suiton No Jutsu) Rank:C Type:Ninjutsu Class:Release Range:--- Effect: Once the user gains an understanding of the water release, they are capable of using techniques that utilize the element of Water. Any ninjutsu or Taijutsu styles that use the water release will need this skill as a prerequisite. Technique:--- Restrictions: ----
The Water Release (Suiton; "Water Style") area of elemental Nature Transformation are techniques that allow the user not only to manipulate but (in the case of a master) generate water as well. Possibly the most versatile of the five basic chakra natures, Water Release techniques can not only change shape but form as well. The affinity for Water Release is common to shinobi of Kirigakure.
Water Release will naturally extinguish fire (though a sufficiently powerful technique can cause evaporation) but will naturally be overcome by earth. When Water Release techniques are combined with Wind Release techniques, the concussive and overall destructive power is vastly increased. Water-natured chakra is also a component of four different kekkei genkai namely Boil Release, Ice Release, Wood Release, and Storm Release.
MASTERY TECHNIQUES
Suigen (Fountainhead) Rank:E,D,C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Supplementary Range: --- Effect: User converts hydrogen and oxygen in the surrounding environment into water automatically if there is no water source present with which to utilize Suiton jutsu. Technique: No Handseals. This process happens automatically if there is no water in the surrounding area with which to use Suiton Jutsu. Restrictions:Once the user has gained a Mastery of Suiton, the user gains every rank of this technique automatically. The rank of the Suiton Jutsu determines which rank of Suigen is used. This makes the usage of Suiton Jutsu easier, but also more costly in terms of chakra.

E-D Rank Water Release: GunshotRank:E,D,C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 25 meters (all) Effect: Shoots water at opponents as spherical projectiles. Technique: Handseals. User gathers a large amount of water in his mouth and then shoots it out as multiple spherical projectiles. At E Rank, this only creates 1 projectile. At D rank, it creates 2. At C rank, it creates 4. At B Rank, it creates 8. At A rank it creates 16. At S rank it creates 32. Each projectile hits with approximately a high 'E' ranks worth of damage, and these projectiles can be aimed to hit different locations, or used to pinpoint on a single target. Restrictions: Must have water release. Ja no Kuchi (Snake's Mouth)Rank:E x 5,D x 5,C x 5,B x 5,A x 5,S x 5 Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: E rank-5 Meters, D rank-10 meters, C rank-20 meters, B Rank-30 Meters, A Rank-40 meters, S Rank-50 meters Effect: Creates a snake-like Suiton creation that can follow and attack opponents. Technique: Handseals. This jutsu allows the user to generate a spinning column of water which will take the form of a snake with a gaping maw. This snake can twist and follow her targets to literally swallow them. At 'A' and 'S' Rank, after it has swallowed them, it turns into a river that carries the enemy away. After activation, the user can create further snakes if needed. This technique can be and must be learned several times in order to master it. Each rank can be learned 5 times, and each time learned, one additional snake can be created. This process ends at S rank, allowing the user to create a total of 30 Snakes. The user MUST hold the dragon handseal, or the technique deactivates and backfires, the user loses control of the snake, and can be harmed by it themselves. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Must have a source of water. Water Release: Violent Water WaveRank:E,D,C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Range: 30 Meters Effect: Technique: Handseals. Water gushes out from the mouth like a waterfall and washes away the enemy. One can freely control the power of this technique with the amount chakra one releases. Having many variations, this is a basic Water Release technique. When learned at E Rank, the opponent is pushed back 1 meter. When learned at D Rank, the opponent is pushed back 5 meters. When learned at C Rank, the opponent is pushed back 10 meters. When learned at B Rank, the opponent is pushed back 15 meters. When learned at A Rank, the opponent is pushed back 20 meters. When learned at S Rank, the opponent is pushed back 25 meters. Restrictions: User must have Water Release. Hidden Mist TechniqueRank:E, D,C,B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Defensive/Supplementary Range: E=5 meters, D =10 meters, C =20 meters, B =40 meters Effect: Hides the user from sight, putting moisture into the air. Technique: Handseals. This displacement technique is a specialty of the Ninja from Kirigakure, where one causes a mist to spring forth by lifting up some water, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan-user will see the mist colored by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu. Restrictions: User must have Water Release. User must be from Kirigakure, or learn from a Kirigakure ninja. WatercraftRank:E,D,C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: N/A Effect: User creates weapons out of water. Technique: Handseals. The user creates hand-held weapons out of highly pressurized Suiton chakra. At E rank, the user can create one kunai sized weapon. At D Rank, the user can create one small knife/dagger sized weapon. At C Rank, the user can create two small knife/dagger sized weapons. At B Rank, the user can create one medium katana/short sword sized weapon. A A Rank, the user can create two medium katana/short sword sized weapons, or one Great Sword sized weapon. At S Rank, the user can create up to two Great Sword sized weapons. These weapons cannot be thrown, and will fall back to the ground as a mass of water if they leave the users hand. Consequently, they are quite durable, and capable of being used with the same hardness and durability as standard metal. Restrictions: Must have water release.

C Rank Suiton: Suihachi (Water Release: Water Wave Palm)Rank:C Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive/Defensive Range: 15 Meters Effect: Creates a continuous stream of water from the users palm. Technique: Handseals. The user raises his hand into the air and emits a continuous jet of water to strike the enemy and disrupt his attacks. Due to the nature of water, this technique works especially well against smoke-based attacks. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Suiton: Taihōdan (Water Release: Large Projectile)Rank:C Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 15 meters Effect: Shoots a large burst of water out of the users mouth. Technique: Handseals. The user is able to attack with a giant blast of water by spitting it as a strong stream from their mouth. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Water Release: Syrup Capture FieldRank:C Type:Ninjutsu Class: Supplementary Range: 15 meters Effect: Captures and traps the target in a sticky field. Technique: Handseals. The user spits out high-viscosity, chakra-mixed water, aimed at a surface of wide scope. This is a stream of sticky liquid which can be used to form an adhesive trap that can inhibit a person's mobility. One can effectively reduce their enemy's area of activity with this technique, and has the effect of being able to take complete control over the battlefield. The normal scope of this technique is normally just a few meters, but if prepared, it is also possible to make an entire pond of starch syrup. Being caught in the technique can be avoided by channeling a good amount of chakra (a C Ranks worth) to one's feet allowing one to walk upon it uninhibited. Restrictions: Must have water release. Water Release: Violent Bubble WaveRank:C, B, A, S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive/Defensive Range: C=20 meters, B=25, A=30, S=40 Effect: Can alter terrain for the users advantage and limit opponents movements. At C Rank it lasts for 2 rounds and the opponent gets a -1 to their movements per round. At B Rank it lasts for 3 rounds and the opponent gets a -1 to their movements per round. At A Rank it lasts for 4 rounds and the opponent gets a -2 to their movements per round. At S Rank it lasts for 2 rounds and the opponent gets a -2 to their movements per round. Technique: Handseals. The user spits out a large volume of bubbles. The ground covered by the bubbles looses its friction, considerably limiting the opponent's movements. The bubbles are spit out with violent force that is capable of washing away most attacks, such as oil and fire. This technique can also be used as an effective smokescreen. Restrictions: Can only be used once per round. Must have water release. Must have at least one other technique where the user utilizes their mouth as a medium for a Suiton Jutsu. Water Release: Water Encampment WallRank:C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Defensive Range: N/A Effect: Protects the user behind a strong wall of chakra reinforced water. Technique: Handseals. This defensive jutsu creates a wall of water around the user. Enemy attacks are completely intercepted by a fence of water blown out from the mouth, and is raised from below with tremendous might. The water is blown out is in the form of a circle around the user, and it makes for a defense without openings. It is also possible for the user to control the amount of water and duration at will. The wall's strength and resistance change following the quantity of chakra poured down into the water, so a skillful shinobi will be able to build a sturdy one. Furthermore, because the field of vision is maintained even while defending one can easily go on to the next move, which is a great advantage. The wall can also be formed from a pre-existing water source. Each rank learned can defend the user from jutsu of any kind (except for genjutsu) that are one rank lower (i.e., C rank can defend against nin/taijutsu of D Rank and below, S Rank can defend against nin/taijutsu of A Rank and below). So long as the user holds the final Bird handseal, they are capable of keeping the shield up, but it costs the same amount of chakra per turn. Restrictions: Must have water release. Water Prison TechniqueRank:C,B,A,S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive/Supplementary Range: N/A Effect: Traps the target in a sphere of highly pressurized water. Technique: Handseals. This jutsu is used to trap a victim inside a virtually inescapable sphere of water. The only downside to this technique is that the user must keep at least one arm inside the sphere at all times in order for the victim to remain imprisoned. Clones can be used in place of the actual person, provided that the clone is the one that performed the technique. This jutsu can't be performed without a sufficiently large body of water to supply the water for it. Despite the fact that the prison is made up entirely out of water, it can be made stronger than steel once learned at higher ranks. Once trapped the target is unable to move while within it due to the heaviness of the water. Even so, the target is still able to speak. At C Rank the user can only imprison up to a C Rank enemy. The shield can be broken through with a B Rank attack. At B Rank, the user can only imprison up to a B Rank enemy. The shield can be broken through with an A Rank attack. At A Rank, the user can only imprison up to an A Rank enemy. The shield can be broken through with an S Rank attack. At S Rank, the user can imprison an S Rank enemy. The shield can be broken through with an S + C Rank attacks worth of strength. The water prison lasts for as long as the users hand is within the sphere, though it takes its own rank of chakra per turn for sustaining it. Restrictions: Must have water release.

B Rank Water Clone TechniqueRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Supplementary Range: N/A Effect: User creates semi-solid clones out of surrounding water. Technique: Handseals. After performing the handseals, the user gathers the surrounding water together with his chakra and creates a clone. The clone is made of Suiton Chakra, and can use other Suiton techniques. The number of clones created increases naturally as the users character rank increases. At D Rank, user can create up to 2 clones. At C Rank, user can create up to 4 clones. At B Rank, user can create up to 6 clones. At A Rank, user can create up to 8 clones. At S Rank, user can create up to 10 clones. Restrictions: Can be seen through and distinguished from the real by chakra seeing Doujutsu. Must have water release. Thousand Flying Water Needles of DeathRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 30 meters Effect: Creates multiple projectiles from Suiton which are thrown at the opponent at high speed. Technique: Handseals. Using this jutsu, the user gathers some water from the air and surrounding environment into one thousand long senbon-like needles. He then directs them to a specific target at high speed. While the needles do surround a target from all sides, they don't appear above the target, creating a possible escape route. Restrictions: User must have water release. User must know all D and C Rank Water Release Techniques. Water Release: Tearing TorrentRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Spiraling wave of water extinguishes fire type techniques of the same rank or lower. Can be used against other elemental releases as well (i.e. to scatter/disperse a lightning type attack, or to negate a water attack of the same rank), though it CANNOT be used to defend against projectiles or taijutsu attacks. Range: 25 meters Effect: This technique creates water that spirals in the user's hand and fires at a highspeed at the enemy. The overall amount of water formed is large enough to help extinguish even large-scale fire release techniques of 'B' Rank or lower. Technique: Handseals. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Must know Suiton: Suihachi. Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet TechniqueRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 40 meters Effect: Uses a mass of Water to form a dragon that hits with a great deal of physical strength, causing great damage. Technique: 44 Handseals. This technique shapes a large amount of water into a giant, powerful dragon, which hits the opponent with formidable might, dealing physical damage. The ideal place to use it is near a body of water, but if the caster's skill allows it, it is possible to use it even in a place where there is none. That said, the amount of water used will be in proportion with the caster's skill. Canon: This jutsu needs forty-four hand seals, the highest amount of hand seals necessary to use a jutsu shown in the series so far. As such, on HVRP, this jutsu requires one extra turn to prepare, regardless of the users rank. Restrictions: Must have water release. Must know Water Release: Tearing Torrent technique. Water Release: Water Fang BulletRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 50 meters Effect: Raises a liquid mass from underwater that spins and damages the opponent. Technique: Handseals. A technique that deals physical damage to the enemy with a liquid mass brought forth from underwater. Its power to kill and maim is augmented by adding a spinning motion to the compactly pressured water. During fights on water, taking advantage of its characteristic ability to attack from anywhere in a 360 degrees radius, in conjunction with other techniques for distraction, confusion and so forth, this technique has an extensive array of applications. Restrictions: Must have water release. Attack comes from underwater, must be on top of (via chakra) or underwater to use this attack. Stormy BlockadeRank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 10 meters Effect: This Jutsu allows the user to summon a massive amount of water from the sky, crushing it into the opponent. Technique: Handseals. After performing the necessary handseals, a large amount of water rushes down from the sky; not in the fashion of rain, but as if a massive bucket of water was suddenly emptied on top of an opponent. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Suiton: Bakusui Shōha (Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave)Rank:B Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 50 Meters Effect: Creates a large and powerful wave of water the user is capable of riding atop of, allowing for extra attacks as well as other water style techniques. Technique: Handseals. The user spits out a great volume of water from their mouth, the enemy is swallowed up by this advancing surge and crushed. The user can ride the wave, allowing them to move at high speed, and attack the enemy, now swept off their feet, without fear of counter-attacks, the amount of water created is proportional to the amount of chakra used. When used with enough chakra, even dry wastelands can become similar to a small ocean. Afterwards, the excess water can presumably be used for additional water release jutsu. Restrictions: Water Release Suiton: Goshokuzame (Water Release: Five Feeding Sharks)Rank:B, A Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: B-35 meters, A-45 meters Effect: Creates five sharks made of suiton chakra which can attack one after another, or be directed to combine their attacks into one. Sharks regenerate from harm by using the surrounding water. Technique: Handseals. The user puts his hand on the surface of a body of water and from the tips of five fingers, chakra is released into the water, changing it into the form of ferocious sharks. The five sharks circle the target with high speed, creating a raging stream that takes away their prey's freedom of movement and their sharp teeth tear into the enemy with five consecutive attacks. In the anime, these sharks can regenerate from surrounding water, making them difficult to destroy. Restrictions: Water Release. Must have a large source of water. 'A' Rank doesn't require Handseals.

A Rank Water ReplacementRank:A Type:Ninjutsu Class: Defensive Range: N/A Effect: Transforms the user into water to avoid damage. Technique: Handseals. When the user is hit by an attack this jutsu will transform the user into water to avoid taking direct damage from any physical attacks. Unfortunately, this jutsu requires some time before the user can return to a solid form. Once the user performs the handseals, the next physical attack that attempts to connect with the user will automatically trigger the activation of this technique. Once the handseals for this technique have been performed, the user CANNOT perform jutsu of any other kind until they are attacked/hit. Requires a certain amount of time to reform your body, depending on the character rank of the user. Your body remains in an amorphous blob-like shape until you are reformed, making you an easy target for Lighting/Fire Release jutsu unless precautions are taken. Other types of attacks have no effect on you. At C Rank, requires 2 turns to reform the users body. At B Rank, requires 1 turn to reform the users body At A Rank, requires 1/2 turn to reform the users body. At S Rank, the users body reforms immediately after being hit. Restrictions: Can only be used once per thread. Water Release: Black Rain TechniqueRank:A Type:Ninjutsu Class: Supplementary Range: 50 meters Effect: Makes it rain black oil, which enhance the power of fire style jutsu by two ranks. Technique: Handseals. This jutsu creates a flammable black mist that forms a small cloud. The user can then move the cloud above their target and disperse it, covering the target in flammable oil. Restrictions: User must have Water and Earth Releases. Suiton: Daibakure no Jutsu (Water Release: Huge Explosion Technique)Rank:A Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 50 meters Effect: This jutsu allows the user to create a torrent of water. Besides that, the user will appear to be turned into water and lead his or her opponent into drowning. Technique: Handseals. After performing the necessary handseals, the user claps their hands together and seems to dissolve into the water itself, though in reality, they are in a protected sphere beneath its surface. They then create what appears to be a 'reverse vortex' centered around their body; massive spinning jets of water are rapidly pushed out to create large waves that give the appearance of explosions coming towards an opponent. This can overwhelm, and often drowns the victim of the jutsu. Restrictions: Must have water release. Must be able to breathe underwater. Must be in a lake, ocean, river, etc.; a large body of water. Infinite SharksRank:A Type:Genjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 20 meters. Effect: User believes that they are trapped underwater and being devoured by an endless series of sharks. Technique: Handseals. The user makes eye contact with the opponent, channeling chakra into their eyes and releasing it, which causes the opponent to see themselves falling into a split in the earth, where an enormous pool of water awaits them. They see themselves then pulled underneath the surface of this pool, where what appears to be an infinite number of sharks awaiting them. These sharks will appear to devour the opponent forever causing incredible pain and paralyzing the opponent for the duration of the technique. Any amount of pain will cause the opponent to snap out of this. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Can be disrupted by Kai. Genjutsu or Nin/Gen Affinity ONLY. Suiton: Daibakufu no Jutsu (Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique)Rank:A Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 35 meters Effect: Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique is a technique that forms a strong column of water to attack an opponent. Due to the force of the water, the target will be fully enveloped and at the mercy of the current as they are pulled away. Technique: Handseals. After performing them, the user will hold the final 'Bird' Seal as a massive collection of water swirls and forms a vortex-like ball that suddenly rushes out and explodes towards the enemy, creating a thick linear stream that carries them away. This will naturally disperse after 35 meters, but can hit with tremendous force if the opponent cannot escape. This takes 3 turns for the jutsu to be completed, and is dispelled immediately if the user lets go of the final handseal. Restrictions: Must have water release.

S Rank Water Release: Rising Water SlicerRank:S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 5 meters Effect: This jutsu will create a jet of water running through the ground that is powerful enough to slice through solid rock. However, it can easily be avoided by jumping upwards. Technique: Handseals. It's short range and high tendency to be avoided coupled with the massive amount of chakra necessary to perform the technique often make it seem as if it isn't worth learning, however, this technique is known throughout the Village Hidden In The Mist as one of the few ultimate assassination techniques. Against an opponent who is immobile, paralyzed, or incapable of dodging it, it is considered an instant kill technique, one that has no trouble slicing even the most durable of opponents in half. The user will perform the necessary handseals and gesture one hand to towards an enemy, directing where the jet of water will go. The jutsu only runs along the ground, cutting it apart as it travels. Restrictions: Must have water release. Water Style: Grand Water ExcavationRank:S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: 100 Meters Effect: Floods an area with Suiton Chakra, forming a perfect sphere that expands to 100 meters in every direction, then pushes opponents away. Technique: Handseals. After performing the necessary handseals, the user claps their hands together,pushing out with a large amount of chakra, converting the air into water and flooding an area of 100 meters (that's height and length, the sphere of water pushes itself underground, destroying the surrounding environment) and trapping everything within that distance inside of itself. Everything caught within spins faster and faster until all at once, the user pushes out with their remaining chakra in a grand fashion, forcing all the water to rush away from its center around the user, and leaving the user alone in a giant crater. This gives the user ample time to escape. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Can only be used once per thread. Once used, the user cannot use Suiton Release techniques for the remainder of the fight. Suiton: Ōuzu Matoi no Jutsu (Water Release: Great Whirlpool Enfolding Technique)Rank:S Type:Ninjutsu Class: Offensive Range: --- Effect: Surrounds a melee weapon with a massive vortex of water. Technique: Handseals. After performing the necessary handseals, the user creates a massive swirling vortex of Suiton Chakra that clings to their melee weapon. This vortex only lasts for two turns, but is powerful enough that if swung and it connects with an opponent, is quite capable of killing them through its sheer pressurized force. This vortex can also be used to deflect incoming ninjutsu and taijutsu attacks and weaponry, though it makes it near impossible for the user to hide, and requires great strength to wield effectively. The vortex adds a cone of dense high pressure water around the melee weapon that adds approximately 3 x 3 meters of extra surface area. Restrictions: Must have Water Release. Must have a 'Main Type melee weapon.
