Aruji PRIDE CLAN HEAD: Naminooto Raion............Gakkyuu PRIDE CLAN HEAD:Tsumemaru Raion
Description
Morphogenesis (from the Greek morphĂȘ shape and genesis creation, literally, "beginning of the shape"), is the biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. It is one of three fundamental aspects of developmental biology along with the control of cell growth and cellular differentiation. The process controls the organized spatial distribution of cells during the embryonic development of an organism. Morphogenetic responses may be induced in organisms by hormones, by environmental chemicals ranging from substances produced by other organisms to toxic chemicals or radionuclides released as pollutants, and other plants, or by mechanical stresses induced by spatial patterning of the cells. Morphogenesis can take place in an embyro, a mature organism, in cell culture or inside tumor cell masses.
Morphogenesis also describes the development of unicellular life forms that do not have an embryonic stage in their life cycle, or describes the evolution of a body structure within a taxonomic group.
Shishigashira is a bloodlimit that, through the kekkei genkai's realignment of the body's main morphogenetic attachments, creates what is considered a 'bastard dojoutsu', one utilized for ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu, and results in the the complete re-orginization of the shinobi's genetic material. The changes in Strength, Sense, Speed, Hair Color and Length, Natural Ferocity, and their affinity for feline animals, is the reason the Bloodlimit is called Shishigashira..."Lion's Mask".
Those who possess the kekkei genkai have several notable traits they share, regardless of which pride they affiliate themselves with. Men and Women are Tall, each averaging about 6 Ft 5in and being of a more solid and stocky physique, usually weighing 50 lbs more than someone of comparative size in pure muscle. They have a generally feline appearance; a wider more complex nose and olfactory system, large eyes and ears (with Females, there is a 70% Chance of developing what is considered the most attractive feature of the bloodlimit, Nyanya, large cat-like ears that protrude quite obviously from their heads) and what is widely considered a facial expression of either hunger or annoyance.
Hair color is usually blonde, bright red, or some shade in between, with a few developing jet black locks. Hair is usually kept long and thick, though there are some exceptions amongst those whose former clan occupations may of kept them from practically maintaining longer hair during combat. They are fond of tattoo's and piercings, and as a byproduct of growing an abnormal (for regular shinobi) amount of hair on their heads, arms and legs, have also picked up a number of intricate cosmetic styles for braiding/plaiting together what would otherwise just be bothersome.
They usually have gun-metal gray or solid black eyes, though darker browns and greens are also known to exist as well. They do not have a standard form of dress, and seem only to prefer lightweight clothing that offers freedom of movement and is baggy enough to conceal weapons. They are fond of kunai, shurkiens, and the specialized "Hyakujuu No'o" whose techniques they have integrated with the overall feline nature of their existence.
History
Proud and old, older than those first stone statues erected outside of the leaf village gates to symbolize the legendary combination of shinobi talent that provided the base for the hidden village, the Raion Clan were once one of the most prominent Clans of Hi-No-Kuni, preferring to live just outside of Konohagakure's massive guarded gates and taking the feral savagery of their unique kekkei genkai deeper and deeper into the surrounding forest. The small wars that brewed almost imperceptibly amongst each branch of the Clan's Dual-pride; The Noble Non-ninja ARUJI PRIDE who rejected the idea that the ways of a warrior could be formalized, systematically ingrained, or taught, and the mysterious GAKKYUU PRIDE, practitioners of techniques they consider instrumental to the next stage of ninjutsu, and often hired assassins whose anti-social living structure left them constantly looking back towards the village they could not be apart of.
Having spent countless years honing the skills that made their vicious tempers, strange appearance, and impressive skills a tell-tale sign of the dominance of the Land of Fire, they were caught completely unaware by the mass slaughter that razed their nomadic compounds to the ground and sought to completely erase them from the history of the village. It was more than a slaughter. It was more than a massacre. It was a wound in life that left so many of the Raion dead that they can no longer consider themselves a clan. They are a scattered and broken shell of a people whose genetics are recycled amongst vagrants and beggars, orphans left at strange vine outcroppings in the forest of death and adopted children, already years into the academy, who suddenly display the full range of their power when irritated or in danger.
The event had come to be known as "The Lion Hunt", perpetuated by the perverse desires of a Daimyo too young to realize his impact on an entire people, and having fallen out of communication with the Village Hidden in the Leaves, a man free to carry out a plot which accomplished nothing more than destruction. This was not an honorable loss. The eradication of the Raion was pointless and cheap, their odd kekkei genkai almost lost forever to the uncaring sway of history, their culture, beliefs, and ideals at risk to be swept away forever.
Chijin Bonkura ruled the Land of Fire with all the charm and grace of a legless crab summons; he was a pompous and arrogant student of fringe genjutsu just over the age of adulthood and fresh into his father's shoes in a role he would never fulfill: a respectable man. He raised taxes when threatened by the more expensive accessories of others, he killed peasants for questioning him, took the daughters of simple farmers and craftsman as members of his personal harem for those too poor to afford his 'protection costs', he was a tyrant. The people hated him, and when two Raion youth were hired to 'take care' of the people's problems, it was considered an understandable act of frustration facilitated in part by the Daimyo's own ignorance. He deserved whatever came to him. People were content with the justification, and simply hoped the stories they'd heard of the fierce Raion and the Shishigashira Bloodlimit were true.
Unfortunately, the town of Kokonotsu (built against the coast of the land, just miles away from the personal home of the Daimyo and packed with various refugee's, missing ninja, and the handful of Raion roaming outside the Forest of Death for ryo or alcohol or sex) never realized the foolishness of hiring one ninja from each of the Raion's 'Prides'. These collections of family members, each responsible for excelling in the respective bloodlimit techniques of their house, had never before been brought together. They'd never been able to put aside their differences long enough to successfully complete a mission without killing each other first, and this time was no different, as before they'd even reach a position to destroy the Daimyo, they were caught arguing outside of his enormous ornately decorated front gates and escorted halfway to the docks heading any where but there.
It is unknown whether the two Raion killed each other, as it is also a popular story that the too died while attempting a sleeping constest with each other, it IS known that once they died, there bodies were harvested by the Daimyo's servants, the basic 'code' of their DNA studied extensively while plans were put in motion to prevent the dangers the kekkei genkai represents to the world.
In the middle of the night, Raion compounds all over the forest of death were attacked with fire, erupted into terrified screams as the Daimyo's guard and a few missing ninja eager to earn a spare Ryo hurting someone assembled and like great flowing waves rushed straight through the surrounding area, nearly wiping them out forever.
It was believed that some survived, as the massive Snake-Tailed Lion Summons, Akugiga, was reported to have been seen blocking out the sun, running back and forth from one village to another in between dipping in and out of the flames that slowly spread to consume the forest as well. When the smoke eventually cleared, the items capable of being salvaged were taken away by the two main survivors, Naminooto and Tsumemaru, who agreed that each grouping of their pride must be led from different areas, lest the arrogance that lead to their clansmen's capture, death, and experimentation, and may have given the Daimyo an unfair advantage against the more peaceful nations. Was he attempting to steal the secrets of the Kekkei Genkai for himself? Was he looking for slaves to control? Only time will tell as those with the bloodlimit begin to find each other and re-connect, form bonds that are capable of lasting the test of near endless tragedy.
