JUTSU TEMPLATE
Name: The name of your jutsu. Obviously, it needs a name, and as this is a mostly English speaking forum, we'd appreciate that even if you create the jutsu with a Japanese or different language name, you offer the closest English translation possible.
Rank: State the rank (E, D, C, B, A, S) of your jutsu. Rank indicates several things, but mostly refers to destructive capability and killing ability, difficulty learning and performing, and the amount of chakra used and area effects of a technique. An E Rank jutsu is something an academy student is capable of learning, something with very low destructive ability, that is almost incapable of killing an opponent, something easy to learn and perform that uses a small amount of chakra and has a limited range. An S Rank jutsu is something that only a trained and experienced ninja is capable of learning, something that can definitely cause a large amount of damage, is usually fatal and difficult to learn and perform, that uses large amounts of chakra and has a very large range of effect.
Type: State whether the technique is Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, etc.
- Ninjutsu (忍術; Literally meaning "Ninja Techniques") refers to any technique that utilizes chakra and allows the user to perform actions that a normal person otherwise would be incapable of doing. Unlike genjutsu, which causes the opponent to experience illusions, the effects of ninjutsu are real. Ninjutsu relies on chakra and, most of the time, hand seals to be effective.
- Genjutsu (幻術; Literally meaning "Illusionary Techniques") are techniques that are employed in the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. However, the primary difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, Genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses.
This is often used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma (because the body is led to believe it is in pain); however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation. - Taijutsu (体術; Literally meaning "Body Techniques") is a basic form of jutsu that typically does not require chakra, but chakra may be used to enhance techniques. Taijutsu generally require no hand seals to perform and are much quicker to use than ninjutsu or genjutsu. Taijutsu is simply put, hand-to-hand combat, or weaponry.
- Fūinjutsu (封印術, Sealing Techniques) are a type of jutsu that seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object.
- Hiden (秘伝, Secret) Jutsu are passed down from generation to generation in certain regions or clans.
The groups possessing these techniques are usually extremely secretive about them. They ensure that no one other than the members of the group learn them. Only a few Hiden jutsu require a special ability or lineage. These jutsu are usually the pride and fame of the clan that possesses them. The Nara clan's Shadow Imitation Technique and the Aburame clan's Destruction Bug Host Technique are some examples of this. - Kinjutsu (禁術; Literally meaning "Forbidden Techniques") are techniques that have been banned from being taught or used.
- N E W !Senjutsu (仙術, Sage Techniques) refers to a specialized field of jutsu that allows the user to sense and then gather the natural energy around a person. Senjutsu practitioners can then learn to draw the energy of nature inside of them blending it with their own chakra (created from spiritual and physical energy within the shinobi), adding a new dimension of power to the Sage's chakra, resulting in the creation of "senjutsu chakra" (仙術チャクラ, senjutsu chakura).
This new chakra enables the user to enter an empowered state called Sage Mode, which can then drastically increase the strength of all ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu. - Kekkei Genkai (血継限界; Literally meaning "a technique limited to inheritance by blood" or "Bloodline Limit") are abilities passed down genetically in specific clans. Kekkei Genkai and their related jutsu can't be taught or copied by others, but it is possible to confer the ability to another person if it's localized in a particular organ like the eyes.
Class: State whether or not the technique is Offensive (used to attack), Defensive (used to defend), Supplementary (used to aid a users specific stats or condition), or Passive (always active, providing some enhanced effect that is not an attack or defense, but allows other more powerful techniques).
Range: Typically the range for attacks is as follows-
- E Rank=5 meters
- D Rank=10 meters
- C Rank=15 meters
- B Rank=20 meters
- A Rank=30 meters
- S Rank=40 meters
However, depending on the strength of the jutsu, this can be altered in either direction, either having a high ranking technique with a short range, or a low ranking technique with a large range. Judge this using common sense and by gauging the power of the technique.
Effect: Give a full description of what the jutsu does, what effect it has on the environment/opponent/user, etc. Typically, lower rank techniques require less description, and higher rank techniques require more description. When making custom jutsu, this is the most vital part of the submission, and often where customs go wrong and are denied. Do not attempt to make a C rank attack with an S rank amount of effect; it will be denied.
Technique: State whether or not the technique requires handseals, if one or more of these handseals has to be held, for how long, or if any extra movements, prep, etc. has to be done in order to make the technique work.
E Rank - Takes 5 handseals
D Rank -Takes 10 handseals
C Rank - Takes 15 handseals
B Rank - Takes 25 handseals
A Rank - Takes 35 handseals
S Rank - Takes 50 handseals
NOTE: Handseals and movements go hand in hand, so an S Rank ninja can perform 50 handseals in 8 movements.
Restrictions: Are there any special restrictions or limits to performing the technique? Does the user need a certain release or kekkei genkai? Are there any other techniques that the user needs to know in order to perform it? Can it only be learned from a particular character or dojo? State all restrictions here.
