Secondary Weapons
This is the index of Secondary Weapons. Everyone begins with a secondary weapons pouch that has 5 empty slots. At character creation, these slots can be filled with any item "C" Rank or below (considered FREEBIES), provided you have the slot-space available to carry them.
These weapons can be purchased at virtually ANY shop.
Name: Kusarigama (Chain and Sickle)
Rank: C
Weapon Type: Chain and Sickle
Size: Unknown
Effect: thrown, handheld, spun, slicing, cutting
Special:
Method of Use:
Attacking with the weapon usually entailed swinging the weighted chain in a large circle over one's head, and then whipping it forward to entangle an opponent's spear, sword, or other weapon, or immobilizing his arms or legs. This allows the kusarigama user to easily rush forward and strike with the sickle.
A kusarigama wielder might also strike with the spinning weighted end of the chain directly, causing serious or deadly injury to his opponent while still outside the range of the opponent's sword or spear.
Kusarigama have also been employed as anti-siege weapons, with the chain allowing the weapon to be retrieved after it was thrown downwards at an attacking force.
Many fictional accounts of kusarigama sometimes show fighters swinging the sickle with the chain, rather than the weighted end. Though entertaining, this is usually not a proper use of the weapon, as the sickle is likely to bounce off a target without causing much injury. One of the few exceptions to this is the Hōten-ryū discipline of the kusarigama.
Historical Accounts of Kusarigama:
According to some accounts, the kusarigama is a weapon that is well-suited against swords and spears. Records show that the kusarigama was extremely popular in feudal Japan, with many schools teaching it, from about the 12th to 17th century, including by Kōga-ryū.
A notable example of the use and misuse of the weapon is the story of the great 17th century kusarigama teacher Yamada Shinryukan. Shinryukan was known to have killed many swordsmen with his weapon, until he was lured into a bamboo grove by Araki Mataemon. There, because of the terrain he was unable to swing the chain and trap Mataemon's sword, and was thus killed.
Perhaps one of the most famous historical users of the kusarigama is Shishido Baiken. A swordsman of great skill, he was proficient with the kusarigama, but was killed by the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi when the latter used a throwing knife to cause a non-fatal injury from outside the radius of the chain, and then moved in for the killing blow with his sword.

Name: Makabishi (Caltrop)
Rank: D
Weapon Type: Small pointy object
Size: maybe an inch
Effect: Dropped, delay-tactic, stabbing, piercing
Special:
The term makibishi (撒き菱 or 撒菱) or tetsubishi (徹菱) refers to small, spiked caltrops used by ninja to deter pursuit.
When pursued by enemies, ninja would scatter makibishi on the ground. In ancient Japan, common footwear consisted of sandals made of straw, called zori, which offered relatively little protection against such hazards. Makibishi spines were often hooked, and occasionally grooved to allow for a light coat of poison, to increase the damage they dealt to those unfortunate enough to step on them and possibly result in death.
Stories exist of other destructive versions of makibishi which would explode when stepped on. These are referred to as bakuraibishi. However, the general purpose of these was merely that of distraction. They could be used to block an escape route, to make the target vulnerable to attack by means of arrows or direct confrontation while he/she searches another possible path.
Restrictions: None
Cost: 300 Ryo for one, 1000 Ryo for a bag of twelve.
Name: Fukiya (Blow-Gun)
Rank: C
Weapon Type: Projectile
Size: 4 feet long.
Effect: Projectile Launcher
Special:
It is often considered as a weapon for ninja. It is known that, in the past, there are numerous schools of martial arts and ninjutsu (such as Togakure-ryū) which practiced martial arts using fukiya and fukibari alone (as senbon).
A typical ninjutsu fukiya is around 50 cm, which is shorter than the sport fukiya, which does affect the effective range. Thus, even in theory, ninja would have had to use special darts with poisoned tips in order for it to work, and fired from a concealed location; it would be even better to fire the fukibari into the enemy's eyes. Most likely, it was used similarly as a shuriken, as a distraction.
The blowgun can also double as a breathing pipe and straw to enable the ninja practitioner to better survive in the wilderness.
There will always be doubts whether it was truly effective compared to bow and arrows, since it has a shorter range. In the hands of experts ("Master" level), it can be very accurate, as testified by sport fukiya players today.
Restrictions: Must have Darts
Cost: 5,000 Ryo for the Fukiya another 1,000 for a bag of darts, darts can be purchased at all shops, no information needed.

Description: Rather than the basic kunai, this handle-less kunai is used for throwing and has nothing but a small ring to hold on to. Due to the fact that the handle is removed and the weight has been shifted a little, this kunai will have more force to it and thus pierce deeper into objects.

Cost: 10 for 500 Ryo
Double-Bladed Kunai
Rank: "D"
Type: Secondary "1" per slot.

Special: ---
Drawback: Now that the weight of the Kunai has been shifted to both sides, this weapon will prove to have little use when thrown.
Description: As it's previous version, this is a modified version of the normal kunai, used for close combat. It now has a blade on each side, which can prove to be extremely useful when trying to match swords in battle. A type of pressure is something approximately ten pounds of pressure, something that is equivalent to that of a human foot, or a hand that pushes down.
